Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas.
The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional.
Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect.
What she didn’t count on was falling in love with the guy.

The queen of slow burn is back at it with Dear Aaron. I am a sucker for anything by Mariana Zapata. Ever since I read Kulti, she became an auto-buy author for me. I was in the middle of a different book when I saw her post that the book was live. I one-clicked it so fast and my night plans changed immediately.

From the title of the book, you can tell the story revolves around mail. Ruby is assigned to Aaron in a pen pal system aimed to keep up the spirits of the military overseas. They send emails back and forth for months and within those months their friendship grows significantly.

I loved how the book did not have the typical animosity in many slow burns. There was no hate between the characters, they were just friends who were there for each other and joked around every time. In all of the books I have read by this author, the heroes are very broody and the heroines generally hate them from the start. This was a different angle.

I also want to say that almost half of the book is written through emails and IMs. I did not mind it but it can be a problem for some. It will feel slow but that’s expected with any of Zapata’s books.

If you love military romances, this one is for you. If you love friends to lovers story, this one is also for you. If you love a slow burn, pick this up!
