Hey there! Welcome to my blog and thank you for checking it out.

I started this blog mid 2016 when my addiction to reading was on overdrive and I had no outlet since my sisters were not around me anymore. I would find myself staring at a wall for a while trying to comprehend whatever I had just read. I found myself writing a bit after I read a book that made my mind go crazy with thoughts and I found that it was therapeutic and so I did it on Goodreads and I loved the feeling after. This all led me to discover the large book lovers community online. Who would have thought? I have been able to connect with so many awesome people online since then and I could not be any happier about it.

Getting a bit personal, here are a few things about me. I am a twenty something year old passionate reader from Kenya based in Nairobi. I truly enjoy getting lost in a book as long as the synopsis draws me to it but sometimes the title and cover can do the trick. I mostly love books that can make me cry and trust me, that’s a wide variety. Anything sweet or heartbreaking from a romance story to a nonfiction book, I will well up. I really don’t know why but I once was told it could be because I am emotionally detached in real life. I personally don’t believe it.;)

Arts. Anything artsy really, I love them. Books, movies, TV series, and music you name it. I love them. I love movie adaptations of books. It’s always like experiencing two different things and I live for them. Even though I’ll probably be in everyone’s face screaming how the book was better. I’m sure it was better regardless of the adaptation, the book is always better. But this does not mean I don’t love the movies. Gone Girl, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Fault in Our Stars, The Longest Ride, The Martian I could keep going but that will take a lot of time.

I have to say, I am quite picky about the books I read. I believe that reading time is very precious and therefore I cannot waste it. Before I commit to finishing a book or even picking it up, I have to be very drawn to it. The pickiness has nothing to do with the genre but a lot to do with the synopsis and ratings it has received so far. They don’t have to be many ratings, but you can tell a lot just from the few a book gets.

When it comes to favorite books, I can never just pick one. How can anyone have one favorite thing? But I do have a list of favorite books that will keep growing, I’m sure of it since there are books I pick up and I adore them. My favorites come from various genres Romance, Historical Fiction or Nonfiction to name a few. I have authors who I own a lot of books from and those would be Colleen Hoover and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Paulo Coelho comes in next after those two. Here is my list of all-time favorite books so far:

  1. Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan
  2. Tristan & Danika Trilogy by R. K. Lilley
  3. Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
  4. Beautiful Stranger by Christina Lauren
  5. November 9 by Colleen Hoover
  6. Hothouse Flower By Krista & Becca Richie
  7. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
  8. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
  9. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
  10. Love Me With Lies Series by Tarryn Fisher
